🐙🔴 Il Kraken di Red Bay – La creatura che dorme sotto il mare

🐙🔴 The Red Bay Kraken – The creature that sleeps beneath the sea

For years, the inhabitants of Red Bay have told the same story.

Deep in the bay, a massive creature is said to live.

Gigantic tentacles.

A force capable of shaking an entire boat.

And, above all, a detail impossible to forget:

it is completely red.

They simply call it:

THE RED BAY KRAKEN.

For a long time, no one knew if it really existed.

Now we do.

🌊 Where does the Kraken come from?

No one truly knows its origins.

And that is precisely why there are dozens of versions in Red Bay.

The oldest one says that the Kraken lives in a deep-sea trench located beyond the bay.

So deep that no anchor has ever reached the bottom.

According to some sailors, that trench is not simply its lair.

It is the place where it was born.

Others claim that the Kraken arrived from a very distant sea following an underwater current and chose Red Bay as its territory.

🔴 Why is it red?

Theories abound here, too.

According to a legend, there are glowing red rocks in the depths that slowly changed the creature's color.

According to another, the Kraken only turns red when it is angry.

A third theory holds that it was simply born that way.

This is probably the most sensible explanation.

And that is therefore what the inhabitants of Red Bay like the least.

🐙 How big is it?

A complicated question.

Every sailor gives a different measurement.

Mason claims it is seven and a half boats long.

No one has ever understood why specifically half.

An old captain claims that a single tentacle is longer than the entire pier.

Jeff simply says:

“Big enough.”

Considering that in the story a single tentacle manages to emerge from the sea and strike their boat violently, Jeff is probably right.

🌊 The three signs of the Kraken

The old fishermen say that there are three signs that precede its appearance.

The first:

the sea suddenly becomes still.

The second:

the fish disappear.

The third:

strange thuds are heard coming from the depths.

THUD.

Silence.

THUD.

Silence.

THUD.

At that point, according to tradition...

there's no point in rowing anymore.

You need to pray you have a jetpack.

⚓ The vanished boats

Another legend tells that on the bottom near the Kraken's lair there is a real graveyard of ships.

Fishing boats.

Sailing ships.

Ancient wrecks.

Even a small ship that no one in Red Bay remembers ever seeing.

Some claim that the Kraken collects the boats.

Others that it destroys them because it considers any ship an invasion of its territory.

Mason has a different theory:

“Maybe it likes boats.”

No one asked him to elaborate.

🦷 The Red Tooth

After the clash, Onnitorinco and Jeff manage to return to the port with several pieces of evidence, including a tooth belonging to the creature.

That tooth could become one of the most famous objects in Red Bay.

According to our legend, the inhabitants nicknamed it:

The Red Tooth.

And naturally, Mason claims he was the first to touch it.

Jeff claims that isn't true.

Mason claims Jeff wasn't there.

Jeff was literally there.

👀 Was it really the only Kraken?

This, however, is the most unsettling question.

For generations, the inhabitants have talked about the Kraken.

Just one.

But no one truly knows what hides in the depths beyond Red Bay.

What if that creature was young?

What if it belonged to a species?

What if the gigantic Kraken faced by Jeff and Onnitorinco...

wasn't even the biggest one?

After the battle, Onnitorinco leaves with his jetpack in search of his next adventure.

In Red Bay, however, the fishermen continue to go out every morning.

Only now, before leaving the port, almost everyone looks toward the water for a few seconds.

Because they have learned one thing:

legends are not always just legends.

And much further down...

where the light cannot reach...
