🎣🪝 Jeff il Pescatore – L’uomo che aveva visto il Kraken

🎣🪝 Jeff the Fisherman – The man who had seen the Kraken

In Red Bay, everyone knows Jeff.

For years, he was simply Jeff the Fisherman.

Then, one night, he returned from the sea claiming to have encountered something gigantic.

Something red.

Something with enormous tentacles.

From that moment on, he became:

“Jeff, the one who believes in the Kraken.”

And almost no one believed him.

🎣 The old fisherman of Red Bay

Jeff knows those waters better than anyone else.

He knows when a storm is coming by watching the waves.

He knows where to fish just by watching the flight of the seagulls.

And he claims he can tell how deep the sea is by the sound of the water against the boat.

He probably made that last one up.

But with Jeff, you never know.

In the official story, Jeff is the only resident of Red Bay who continues to maintain that he saw the Kraken. His obsession has become so strong that his business has suffered, and he has practically stopped working to dedicate himself to searching for the creature.

🪝 The legend of the lost hand

Among the stories told about his past, one is more famous than the others.

Jeff allegedly lost a hand during his first encounter with the Kraken.

It was night.

The sea was strangely still.

Then the boat was struck from below.

Once.

Twice.

On the third time...

a huge red tentacle emerged from the water.

Jeff tried to defend the boat.

The clash lasted only a moment.

By the time he finally managed to reach the coast, his boat was destroyed and Jeff had lost a hand.

But he kept repeating only:

“It was red. I tell you, it was red.”

This part expands Jeff’s legend beyond what was shown in the main story, where we only know that he claims to have seen the creature.

😂 No one believed him

The problem is that Jeff had no proof.

No photographs.

No tentacles.

No Kraken.

Just an incredible story.

The locals started to think he had an accident during a storm and turned it into a legend.

Some even began to mock him.

Jeff, however, kept going.

Every morning, he loaded his small boat with increasingly strange tools.

Enormous nets.

Ropes.

Grappling hooks.

Gigantic bait.

And at least one object that no one in Red Bay has ever managed to identify.

When Platypus meets him, in fact, Jeff is loading tools that seem designed more for capturing a gigantic creature than for a normal day of fishing.

🦆 The only one who believed him

Then a stranger with a jetpack arrived.

Instinctive Platypus.

Jeff initially thinks that he, too, wants to mock him.

Instead, Platypus tells him something Jeff hadn't heard in a long time:

“I want to help you.”

And he sets off with him.

Hours of sailing.

A fake storm.

Then silence.

And finally...

the Kraken.

🐙 Jeff was right

The tentacle emerges.

The boat is attacked.

Jeff uses the tools prepared over years of research while Platypus fights from above with his jetpack.

This time, Jeff doesn't have to convince anyone.

This time, there is someone beside him who sees exactly what he sees.

When they return to Red Bay with the proof, the man everyone considered obsessed suddenly becomes the man who had been right all along.

🪝 A new legend

Today, according to our new Red Bay legends, an old sign hangs in the harbor bar:

“Jeff was right.”

Someone always adds underneath:

“For once.”

Jeff erases it.

Mason rewrites it.

Jeff erases it again.

It has become a local tradition.

But one thing no longer makes anyone laugh.

When Jeff looks at the sea and says:

“There is something out there...”

in Red Bay, everyone turns to look now.
